Example Album: Ultimate Psychological Description II
Location: Japan
Years Active: 1986-present
Style: Metal percussion, electronic, industrial noise
Dissecting Table is a one man project lead by Ichiro Tsuji, formed in 1986, Tokyo. Ichiro was the former vocalist for the hardcore punk band Gudon, but found his home with Dissecting Table making some of the most intense and oppressive industrial music to ever come out of Japan. His early material, until the mid to late 90's frequently featured an intense barrage of sequenced metal percussion in a way I've never heard another artist achieve. Dissecting Table has a truly unique sound, blending percussion with pitch dark, oppressive electronic atmospheres and noise, sometimes sounding cinematic in nature. Throughout these pieces you can hear Ichiro's vocal style, characterized by death metal growls, which adds to the intensity and doom of Dissecting Table's sound.
I chose Ultimate Psychological Description II as the example album, since it's a part reworking of his earlier material, which also has his newer stuff from the time. It features plenty of metal percussion to make any metal fetishist happy, with elements of noise to top it off.
After this era generally ending in the late 90's, Dissecting Table went more into the direction of harsh noise, which to my knowledge he is continuing to this day.
